Halo 2 clan
From CAGwiki
The CheapAssGamer Halo 2 Clan is a clan for the Xbox game Halo 2 that is organized to allow CAGs to play the game on Xbox Live together.
History
In the fall of 2004, as hype for Halo 2 was reaching epic proportions, discussions of forming a clan for the game started in the CAG Xbox forums after news of a clan feature had spread. Founded and managed by rocksolidaudio in October of 2004, clan CheapAssGamer quickly gathered members and shortly thereafter had reached the 100 member limit. Required weekly practices were instated, and inactive members were cut to make room for active players.
Early on CAG MookyJooky offered a list of tips and tactics for multiplayer that evolved into his site, Halo2MultiplayerTricks.com which became popular in the Halo 2 community for a short time. Over time, the site was updated sparsely and is currently down.
In January of 2005 the Halo 2 clan was given its own private forum on CAG, viewable only by members of the clan. Popular topics include strategy discussion, arranging practices and matches, bragging about impressive in-game feats, and The Icon's Pic Thread.
Over time, tensions started to rise in the clan between those who wanted to make the clan into a competitive team and those who the clan to remain a clan for any CAG to join regardless of skill. "Elites" were a hand-picked group of members who were chosen participate in clan matches. In time, other CAGs were allowed to join clan matches as well as long as they were accompanied Elites. In March of 2005, the decision was made to split the clan into one competetive clan, CAGtacular, headed by rocksolidaudio, and one casual clan, CheapAssGamer, headed by Craven Fiend. CAGtacular had closed membership and required a rigorous tryout to earn a spot. CheapAssGamer retained its open admission and more relaxed standards.
Also in March of 2005, a third CAG clan was instituted by rywateska, CrazyAssGuys. This clan was composed of CAGs who used 2-month trials to create alternate accounts. Goofing off and having fun was the main aim of the clan.
In June of 2005, CAG rywateska released his Farewell and In the Video montages. Farewell highlighted impressive gameplay by rywateska and In the Video showed off CAG to the Halo 2 community. Farewell received the most nominations of any entry in the 3rd Annual Rockets on Prisoner Awards and won for Best Montage thanks largely in part to the votes from CAGs. In February of 2006, he released a trailer for his next montage, Immortal.
