Platinum Hits

Launched in February 2003, Platinum Hits is a line of Microsoft Xbox games that have sold over 400,000 units on the platform in the nine months after release. [1] The games are re-released with Platinum Hits branded packaging and sold at a MSRP of $19.99 although occasionaly multi-game packs are sold for more. Extremely successful games such as the Halo series are sometimes delayed from their Platinum Hits launch in order to maximize sales at a higher suggested retail price.
In March 2005, Microsft announced Platinum Family Hits, a line of family friendly Platinum Hits games for the Xbox console that also retail for $19.99. Currently, all Platinum Family Hits games have an ESRB rating of E.
Best of Platinum Hits, launched in March 2006, is a line of Platinum Hits games sold at a MSRP of $9.99 as opposed to the usual MSRP of $19.99 for a regular Platinum Hits title.
On September 20, 2006, during their pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, Microsoft announced the first Platinum Hits titles for the Xbox 360.
