Trading Guide
The internet is a treacherous place, full of porn, pedophiles, and Nintendophiles. Here is a quick guide to trading games over CAG. In the beginning, you will have 0 feedback. You have no identity among fellow CAGs, so understand that others may not be very inclined to trade with you at first.
Creating your tradelist...
This is a generic guide to making your Trade List. Feel free to follow your own instincts when trading.
Steps:
- Register on the CAG forums.
- Wait 30 days.
- After 30 days, create ONE thread (only one) in the CAG Trading forum.
Remember:
- You are only allowed one account. Do NOT create more than one account. We can check your IP and ban you.
- You can't get around this wait time. Do NOT create a thread asking about getting it sooner. If you do, we'll ban you, then set your computer on fire.
- This is your permanent "Trade List". Bookmark it so you don't lose it. You can edit and modify your tradelist at anytime- it's all yours!
Editing your tradelist...
Keeping an organized tradelist can cause for CAGs to PM you for offers. Here are a few guidelines for your list to increase the likeliness of a trade.
- Keep your tradelist organized so it's easy to find games (sort them by system).
- Always keep your tradelist up to date with the games you have for trade.
- List the condition of your games.
- If you're looking for other games, create a list of wants within your tradelist.
- If you're looking for money for your games, list prices on the games you have.
Trading for the first time...
When trading for the first time, you have 0 feedback. You will have 0 feedback until you complete a trade with another CAG. So let's get started!
- List the games you HAVE for trade on your tradelist.
- List the games you WANT to trade for on your tradelist.
- Search other people's tradelists for the games you want.
- When you find something you're interested in, send a PM (private message) to that CAG.
- Include all the information regarding a trade with them in the PM, including any questions you may have.
During the process of sending PMs, be courteous and straightforward.
- If there is a price listed, you can try to haggle, but don't be disrespectful if a CAG holds firm on the price- this is CHEAP ASS Gamer.
- Always respond promptly and clearly. Some trades can be completed in 10 minutes while others may take several weeks because of slow responses and confusion.
- If you feel the trade isn't going to work (for whatever reason), let the person know you are withdrawing the offer. Do NOT do this after an agreement has been reached.
After you get a response and work out a deal with another trader, there are some unwritten rules:
- The unwritten rule of CAG Trading is whoever has lower feedback must ship first.
- Always use "Delivery Confirmation" when shipping a game. (Only 13 cents when you use Shipping via PayPal.)
- If sending money, use a service that you can track
- Personal check or PayPal are ideal payment methods.
- NEVER SEND CASH IN THE MAIL. EVER. N. E. V. E. R.
The reasoning for these rules will become clear once you have established yourself as a respectable member of CAG. Your experience through CAG will affect your decisions while trading with other members.
When you're ready to ship your game, consult the USPS Shipping Label Guide, which will guide through shipping via the United States Postal Service.
After you ship your game, PM the Delivery Confirmation tracking number to your fellow trader. What not to do when making a trade on CAG
